
Don Renaud
Don obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree (with Distinction) from the
University of Alberta in 1981. In 1984 he graduated from the University
of Victoria with a Bachelor of Laws degree. In He was called to the
Bar in 1985 and has been representing clients in the Provincial and
Superior Courts of British Columbia ever since. Don is a founding
partner of the firm Campbell, Renaud Trial Lawyers.
Don is keenly interested in public safety and
quality of life issues for the disabled. He volunteers with organizations
which help raise public consciousness about safety issues and with
those which work to address the needs of severely injured people.
He has served as a director of the B.C. Safety Council and is on
the board of the Cerebral Palsy Association of B.C. He is a founding
member of the Wrongful Death Law Reform Group and a supporting member
of the B.C. Coalition of People with Disabilities and Amnesty International.
In his practice Don represents seriously injured
people and their families throughout B.C. and occasionally in other
parts of Western Canada. He helps people who have suffered serious
and disabling injuries resulting from motor vehicle collisions as
well as people who have been victims of medical malpractice. In
particular, Don has developed a special interest and commitment
to families and children who have suffered brain damage and cerebral
palsy due to birth trauma and medical negligence.
Don regularly lectures at seminars sponsored by
the Trial Lawyers Association of B.C. (TLABC) and has had numerous
articles published in The Verdict, its legal journal. For many years
he served on the executive of the TLABC and as its President in
2001\02. He continues in the capacity as Governor and as a Sustaining
Member. In addition he is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers
Association and its Medical Negligence subsection.
Don also holds memberships in the Association
of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), its Medical Malpractice section
and its Birth Trauma litigation group. He is a Member Fellow of
the Roscoe Pound Institute in the United States.
Don is married with 3 children and is active in
his community. He is a former president of his local Liberal Party
Riding Association and lectures on public safety and law through
the Burnaby School Board, the People's Law School, and the Continuing
Legal Education Society of B.C. Don enjoys running, cycling, hockey
and cross country skiing.
