
Ian Campbell
Ian obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree
from Dalhousie University in 1971 and his Bachelor of Laws degree
from Dalhousie Law School in 1974. He was called to the British Columbia
Bar in 1975 and has practiced law continuously ever since.
Ian has been active since 1983 with the Canadian
Power and Sail Squadron, at the local and national level. The
Squadron is a national training organization that provides instruction
and certification in boating and water safety. Ian has served in
various capacities with the Squadron including instructing students
in how to be safe on the water.
Ian has also volunteered as a supervising lawyer for the University
of British Columbia's Student Legal Aid program for many years.
He has also provided pro bono legal services for individuals who
are unable to afford the services of a lawyer. He is presently a
director of the Western Canada Society to Access Justice, an organization
that provides pro bono legal services throughout Western Canada
and promotes access to justice issues.
At the present time Ian is a member of the Trial Lawyers
Association of British Columbia, a non-profit society whose mission is
to promote excellence in advocacy, protect the rights of individuals,
enhance trial practice and preserve the jury system.
Ian has taken courses from the Justice Institute and
The Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia to qualify
as a mediator. He has extensive experience conducting mediations as counsel.
Throughout his career, Ian has represented insurance
companies including ICBC, but now solely represents injured people and
their families in the courts of British Columbia. He has conducted trials
in The Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British
Columbia and has appeared in the Court of Appeal.
Ian also has experience in estate, commercial and real
estate litigation as well as solicitors work.
He has lectured on litigation matters for The Trial
Lawyers Association of British Columbia, The Continuing Legal Education
Society of British Columbia and the Burnaby School Board.
